Robot mower slope specifications look simple because they are usually expressed as one percentage. Real terrain is not simple. A mower climbing straight up a dry, uniform bank faces a different problem from one traversing sideways on wet grass or turning at the crest of a slope. The published maximum is therefore a limit to understand, not a promise that every part of the yard near that number will be effortless.

Percentage versus degrees

Slope percentage describes rise divided by horizontal run. A 50% slope rises 0.5 units for every 1 unit of horizontal distance. It is not the same as 50 degrees. This distinction matters because marketing material and owner discussions sometimes mix the two.
